Our client, in the Oil & Gas Sector , is seeking to employ an Accountant I , on a temporary contract for one year and the salary range is $16,500 to $18,000.
Location: Port of Spain .
JOB SUMMARY: ACCA or CPA Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications and relevant Accounting Packages Skilled in mathematical computation used in accounting Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar position. Industry experience will be an asset Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Must be highly organized Must apply careful attention to detail and accuracy Must be sensitive to time deadlines and ensure that work is accomplished in the timeframe required Must be able to prioritize tasks and perform work efficiently Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills Working with stringent deadlines on a monthly basis Working outside of normal working hours to meet This may include 2-3 hours on a daily basis during the week of financial close as well as weekends when required Must be highly organized

JOB SUMMARY:
Provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, co-ordinate and support financial planning activities (Budgets, Forecasts and Scenario Sensitivities) for the Division and Joint Venture Stakeholders.
- Build effective working relationships with Joint Venture Partners, International Accounting, Internal Audit, Legal and Operations departments and work collaboratively to support Business Planning.
- Assist in the preparation and reporting of monthly trial balances and financial statements.
- Evaluate the division’s financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts. Utilize variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Work collaboratively with other finance teams and business stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and deliver insights by understanding costs and value drivers.
- Preparation and presentation of management reports including analysis and commentary of monthly capital costs.
- Support the division’s contract planning strategies, financial due diligence and lease assessment review.
- Engage with internal, external and non-operator auditors, assisting with audit requests and responding to queries throughout the audits which run throughout the year.
- Prepare and evaluate the division’s effective tax rate for business planning by analyzing and computing Petroleum Profits Tax, Unemployment Levy, Green Fund Levy and deferred taxes.
- Support the business with ad hoc financial requests and queries.
