Our client is looking to onboard a Supermarket Purchaser in the St. Augustine area:
Job Summary: The Supermarket Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing products for the supermarket to ensure a well-stocked and diverse inventory. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, analyzing market trends, and maintaining relationships to optimize product offerings while adhering to budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Sourcing: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for various product categories, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to secure favorable agreements.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and forecast demand to maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and consumer preferences to inform purchasing decisions.
- Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable delivery and address any issues that may arise.
- Budget Management: Adhere to budget constraints while maximizing product quality and selection.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, marketing, and operations teams to align purchasing strategies with overall business goals.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, market trends, and inventory status for management review.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a retail or supermarket environment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Familiarity with supply chain management principles.
- Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation.
