Our client is looking to onboard a Supermarket Purchaser in the St. Augustine area:

Job Summary: The Supermarket Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing products for the supermarket to ensure a well-stocked and diverse inventory. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, analyzing market trends, and maintaining relationships to optimize product offerings while adhering to budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Sourcing: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for various product categories, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to secure favorable agreements.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and forecast demand to maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and consumer preferences to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable delivery and address any issues that may arise.
  • Budget Management: Adhere to budget constraints while maximizing product quality and selection.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, marketing, and operations teams to align purchasing strategies with overall business goals.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, market trends, and inventory status for management review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a retail or supermarket environment.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with supply chain management principles.
  • Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation.
