Our client in the Oil and Gas sector is seeking to onboard an Information Technology Technician (ITT) for their Couva location.

Job Summary:

The Information Technology Technician (ITT) supports the systems infrastructure by providing first-line end-user support for the company’s desktop systems ensuring the optimum delivery of Information Technology (IT) services to all users. The ITT shall undertake the administration and maintenance of desktop hardware and software resources inclusive of personal computers (PC) and associated peripherals, operating systems, standard and specialized software installations. The ITT shall perform duties independently, with a proficient level of competency and effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities:

Performs end-user support:
  • Ensures that calls for IT support are properly logged and addressed in accordance with established internal Help Desk procedures.
  • Provides end-user support by responding to and troubleshooting desktop equipment related hardware and software problems.
  • Provides advice to users on the proper use and functionality of the desktop equipment and software.

Performs desktop/software administration and maintenance activities:
  • Installs, configures and maintains the desktop environment.
  • Manages PC performance and disk usage.
  • Applies software updates/upgrades as required on PCs.
  • Assists with the management of software media and licenses.
  • Ensures preventative maintenance is completed on all PCs.
  • Manages the maintenance of the hardware and software physical inventories.

Performs general IT activities:
  • Ensures good governance, confidentiality, due care and diligence in all activities.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the organisation’s main business functions.
  • Understands, complies with, and ensures adherence to, existing IT policies, procedures or work instructions.
  • Plans and executes projects as assigned under the guidance of a Systems Analyst.
  • Assists Systems Analysts in operational activities as required.
  • Monitors and reviews technology and recommends the implementation of new solutions that can be beneficial to the company.
  • Understands and satisfies Key Performance Indicator (KPI) requirements.
  • Maintains excellent standards of housekeeping as it relates to one’s assigned physical area.
  • Performs other work related duties as required at the level of the substantive position.

Prepares and/or maintains documentation:
  • Creates and maintains documentation arising out of desktop support activities.
  • Prepares and maintains technical documentation describing problems and their associated solutions for inclusion in the department’s knowledge base.
  • Prepares relevant reports, presentation and other documents as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an Information Technology environment, particular in the Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 365 support areas

  • General IT knowledge and expertise.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Windows desktop Operating system and Microsoft Office suite.

  • Knowledgeable in networking and cabling technology.
